Hard Drive Recovery Procedure
- step 1: Locate an identical hard drive Western Digital MDL:AC23200-00LC DCM:BRCEKIAEOAAD
- step 2: Swap the heads in a Class 100 clean room environment.
- step 3: Using COPYHD.exe from Data Recovery, inc., start cloning at sector 0.
- step 4: Beware of bad sector(s), if you come across a series of bad sector(s) while cloning, you should skip the bad sector until the clone is completed, you can return after and refine the duplicate retrying the bad sector multiple times.
- step 5: The first 10,000 sectors are critical, this contains the file system FAT (File Allocation Table) and root directory. Without this area, some files would be fragmented and corrupted.
- step 6: Since this is a propriority operating system, it is critical that the entire drive be duplicated without errors. Redo the clone several times if necessary using 5X retry on bad sector areas.
- step 7: By re-reading the hard drive, it occasionally repairs itself from certain bad sector areas.
