Hard Drive Recovery Procedure
- step1: Find
a parts hard drive, with the identical MLC DA1053 and Model number HTS548080M9AT00.
- step 2:
All work with an open drive must be done inside a Class 100 Clean Room
or clean zone. Remove and replace the Head Stack Assembly.
- step 3:
Start to clone the hard drive to suitable destination hard drive of
equal or greater capacity using COPYHD.exe
from Data Recovery, inc.
- step 4:
Because there is additional damage to the surface of the platters, you
should keep in mind to take extra care to avoid dead spots while mirroring
the hard drive.
- step 5:
The NTFS File system usually keeps the MFT (Master File Table) around
sector 6,500,000. You might need to reverse direct on the cloning at
sector 7,000,000 until sector 6,200,000 to ensure that you get a good
copy of the MFT.
- step 6:
Continue forward cloning jumping at least 10,000 sector(s) everytime
you reach a bad sector area keeping a list of the bad sector areas for
future use if necessary.
- step 7:
Once you have a decent clone, you should make a duplicate copy of the
clone for safety reasons (every hard drive will fail at some time or
another, they can't be trusted).
- step 8: You
can now run some Data
Recovery Software and extract data files. Copy all recovered fies
to a Western Digital Passport for delivery.
