Configuration: Single standalone Seagate Cheetah ST373405LW SCSI drive.
OS: NOVELL 4.11
Failure: Motor speed control chip failed on the PCB
Data Recovery Procedure
- step 1: Find another drive with a similar PCB, they're almost all interchangeable.
- step 2: Swap the board and duplicate the drive using COPYHD.exe from Data Recovery,inc.
- step 3: Try starting the NOVELL volume, if you have problems, you my have to install NOVELL.
- step 4: Install NOVELL 4.11 on a spare machine.
- step 5: If the volume still does not mount, you must run VREPAIR
- step 6: Transfer all files through the network to a safe location.
- step 7: Transfer all files to a Western Digital Passport external USB drive.
