Western Digital, IBM / Hitachi , Maxtor / Seagate , Toshiba, Fujitsu , Dell , Dell PowerVault Servers etc..If you have a failed hard drive or just bad sectors that needs repair and critical data for recovery, we can help for your hard drive crash!! Odds of a Raid 0 versus a Raid 1 failure on a 2 hard drive Raid such as the Buffalo, IOmega or other network attached storage (NAS): The odds of a single hard drive to fail is 10% over a period of 1 year. In a raid 0 configuration the odds of failure is 2 out of 10 or 20%. In a Raid 1 configuration, the odds of complete failure is 1 out of 100 or 1%. The RAID 0 configuration in a 2 drive array is a major mistake, always set it up in a raid 1 configuration. The extra space is not worth the failure rate increase. 18 years experience, I've seen most everything that could happen to your computer, from little accidents or minor annoying bad sector damage to major crashes needing my extreme concentration. When a disk failure occurs, usually the damage may be the sign of immanent failure and requires immediate attention. I will attempt to clone the disk before it dies completely using proprietary software I built myself. It works really well on drives with bad sectors and can save your ass. The most common types of hard drive crashes usually start with bad sectors on the hard drive. This will cause devastation on all operating systems ( Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix including improperly maintained Raid systems ). USB hard drive storage units such as Maxtor One Touch, LaCie data storage, IOMEGA Zipdisk data storage...etc.. are a good method of backup for your data, however these USB hard drives can also crash and your data may get lost, deleted or corrupted needing hard drive data recovery. The only way to safeguard your data is to make multiple backups of your data. You can usually tell when a hard drive failure is immanent, when your computer boots up, you'll see a message like "S.M.A.R.T. drive failure immanent, backup your drive now" or "Primary HDD failure". Usually by this time, it's too late to backup your drive, you need data recovery. The more things you try, the worst things will get if you don't understand data recovery procedures. |
Typical Computer Installation Tips (standard), avoiding the
need for Data Recovery Service
All my computers are on separate UPS power, this handles all power fluctuations
and spikes.
I have installed my backup software on every machine. Final version download
@ my-backup.htm
I have a NAS RAID 5 storage unit as additional backup or you can dedicate any
machine with a big drive as backup unit,
even a second drive on each machine will do. I added extra cooling fans on all
drives.
Using External USB drives such as any LaCie, Western Digital, Maxtor or Seagate
for a permanent storage unit is a BIG Mistake
These External drives tend to get knocked over or get badly placed with little
or no ventilation.
External drives such as LaCie, Western Digital passport, Maxtor one touch or
Seagate free agent are excellent
for transporting data from one computer hard drive to another and storing backups
when shelved.
Absolutely no disk storage devices can be trusted, my rule is to replace the
disk once the warranty is over.
Failure rate for any new products is fairly high because of their quality control process I guess, but they don't care, they're just out to make a profit
They don't care about your data, they'll replace your device, that's it. Some Companies like Seagate and Western Digital will even suggest a company that will
charge you a mint to retrieve your information, that sucks.
My drives still die every once in a while, but... It just doesn't bother me,
I never need recovery, it's merely a minor inconvenience.
Hope this helps.
